Your privacy matters to us — not just because the law says it should, but because Wump is built on trust. You're sharing your financial picture with us. We take that seriously.

Short version: we collect as little as possible, we don't sell your data, we don't connect to your bank, and you can delete everything at any time. That's the deal. 🛋️

Section 1 — Who Is Responsible for Your Data

Section 2 — What Data We Collect

Data you enter yourself ✓

This is the main data in Wump — the numbers you type in manually:

Income entries — amounts, dates, client names you choose to use
Bill entries — amounts, names, due dates
Your niche selection (e.g. Freelancer, Landlord)
Your starting balance (if you choose to provide it)
Your region selection (UK, Ireland, USA, or Other)
Any notes or labels you add to entries
Your dream cushion target (if set)

This data is stored on your device and, if you're a paid user, backed up securely. We never share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

Data collected automatically

When you use Wump we may collect limited technical data to help the app work properly and improve over time:

App crash reports and error logs (anonymised)
General usage patterns — which screens are used, how often (anonymised, never linked to your identity)
Device type and operating system version
App version

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifying information unless you contact us directly.

Wump Chat data

When you use Wump Chat, your questions and your financial data are processed by our AI provider to generate a response. This processing is governed by our AI provider's data processing agreement. Your Wump Chat conversations are not stored permanently and are not used to train AI models.

Purchase data

If you purchase the full Wump app or add-on packs, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but we never see your payment card details, billing address, or any financial information related to the transaction.

What we NEVER collect 🏦
We never collect, request, or store: Bank account numbers · Sort codes · Bank login credentials · Open banking data · Credit card numbers · Any data from your bank or financial institution.

Section 3 — Why We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes, with the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

To provide the app — processing your financial entries to calculate your cushion. Legal basis: contract performance.
To improve the app — anonymised usage data helps us fix bugs and build better features. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
To process purchases — confirming your purchase status. Legal basis: contract performance.
To send monthly reminders — if you've opted in to notifications. Legal basis: consent (you can withdraw at any time in Settings).
To respond to support requests — if you email us. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

Section 4 — Who We Share Your Data With

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run Wump:

AI provider — processes Wump Chat queries under a data processing agreement, not used for model training.
Apple App Store / Google Play — handles all purchases and device backup.
Crash reporting service — receives anonymised crash reports.
Push notification service — delivers monthly reminders using only your device token.

If you tap a PrOpinion referral link from within Wump, you are leaving Wump and entering PrOpinion's service. Wump does not share your financial data with PrOpinion automatically.

Section 5 — How Long We Keep Your Data

Your financial data lives on your device. We retain anonymised analytics data for up to 24 months. Support correspondence is kept for up to 3 years.

If you use Settings → Reset everything, all your financial data is permanently deleted immediately. We cannot recover it after deletion.

Section 6 — Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights. Exercise any of them by emailing privacy@wump.ai:

Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Right to correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Right to deletion — ask us to delete your data, or use Reset in the app.
Right to portability — request your data in a portable format.
Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent for notifications at any time in Settings.

Section 7 — Cookies and Tracking

Wump is a mobile app, not a website, so traditional cookies don't apply. We use no advertising trackers, no cross-app tracking, and no data for targeted advertising.

Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework applies — if your device asks whether to allow tracking, you can safely say no.

Section 8 — Children's Privacy

Wump is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used Wump, please contact us at privacy@wump.ai.

Section 9 — International Users

Wump is available in the UK, Ireland, and the USA. If you are based outside the UK, your data may be processed in the UK. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international data transfers.

Section 10 — Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll notify you in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The current version will always be available in Settings and at wump.ai/privacy.
